At the heart of the College is our focus on delivering the highest quality educational experience for the boys. This ensures our students achieve academically, develop life-long friendships and learn to provide service to all who need help.
I am proud that during nearly twenty years of Stewardship at De La Salle College the charms of working in this community are as strong now, as they were when I began my vocation here. I am delighted by the achievements of our students both past and present. I know that the greatest honour has been bestowed upon me, to lead this wonderful institution.
De La Salle is a Christian school within the Lasallian family of schools. We are distinguished as being a small, outward-looking community that also shares a history and common values with our international counterparts.
Its history is proudly shared by generations of Island families and, despite the rigours of educational reforms, war and occupation, funding booms and busts and the natural evolution of teaching and pastoral care, the College continues to be driven by a determined passion for its founding principles to provide the best possible education to the pupils in its care.
We are a community of staff and students who strive to achieve their personal best. Our school ensures the opportunity to develop, excel and achieve happiness, not just for themselves, but also for our community.
Parents who choose to entrust their son to us know that well-being and happiness are central to our success, both academically and in helping to produce the next generation of well rounded, resilient and considerate people.
De La Salle prides itself on having outstanding pastoral care and a reputation for nurture and support which produces exceptional young ambassadors for our younger generations.
Throughout both Primary and Secondary schools we have staff with professional qualifications, including ELSA, who offer meetings and look after the well-being of individuals in our care, and we have a school counsellor and College chaplain who are also central to the care that De La Salle provides and assures.
The success that we enjoy as a thriving College, encouraging students of all abilities to reach for excellence, is testimony to our pastoral care structures and the happiness of the members of our community.
De La Salle is non-selective with boys aged 4 to 18. We have a proven track record for helping children of all ability levels to achieve excellent academics outcomes while enabling their wider talents to flourish.
We have no entry examinations and cater for students of all ability levels. Our thriving teaching and learning environments supports all students to strive for excellence and to reach their full potential.
We have a number of students with Special Educational Needs and provide a permanent teaching assistant for our year 6 students while they attend their lessons on the secondary site, and additional teaching assistant support in some lessons.
We are working as a ‘rights committed’ school with an action plan that reflects our ambition to achieve ‘rights aware’ status. De La Salle College abides by the principles of equality, dignity, respect, and non-discrimination and our participation is visible around the school, understood and discussed with our students as part of our daily learning routines.
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child is central to the Rights Respecting tenet; De La Salle actively uses this shared understanding to work for improved child well-being, school improvement, global justice and sustainable living.
Tim Silvester, our Director of Admissions, will be happy to help answer any questions you have about life at De La Salle, and can aid you on your admission’s journey.
Private tours are led by a member of the Senior Management Team, and provide the opportunity to tour the facilities, meet other key members of our staff and talk more specifically about areas you are interested in on a one-to-one basis.
We provide a unique Christian education within a caring and nurturing environment. Our long-term focus on wellbeing and values produces excellent role models and individuals equipped to achieve their ambitions, who are invaluable contributors to the local community.
‘Indivisa Manent’, which translates into English as ‘Undivided Remain’, is both our motto and a core principle signifying our inseparable brotherhood; our boys work together and our community supports every individual in our care.
Our ethos establishes a culture of caring for others, reaching for excellence by trying one’s best, and recognising that success can be measured academically and in a wide variety of other ways.
