Having had to postpone our Summer Showcase from the Ascension term due to the extreme heat, we’re delighted to have finally been able to go ahead with the event and witness the wonderful talent of so many students.
This successful Summer Showcase brought together students from across the College for an evening of music, drama and performance, celebrating the breadth of talent within our Performing Arts department.
Held in front of an audience of around 140 family members, friends and supporters, the showcase featured 42 students from Years 4 to 12 performing as part of a variety of ensembles, choirs, drama productions and solo acts.
The programme offered something for everyone, with performances spanning rock, pop, musical theatre and film music. Audiences were treated to lively renditions from the Junior Choir, including Try Everything from Zootopia, We Know The Way from Moana and Dance Monkey. DLS Rocks brought energy and enthusiasm to the stage with performances of Feel It Still and Livin’ on a Prayer, while DLS Vox impressed with their interpretations of Magic and Use Somebody.
The evening also featured a performance of Treasure Island by Drama Club, a piano duet of Don’t Stop Me Now, a dramatic excerpt from Neville’s Island and a number of outstanding solo performances that showcased the confidence and individuality of our students.
Beyond the performances themselves, the showcase reflected the Lasallian spirit that sits at the heart of College life. Students of different ages and experience levels came together to support and encourage one another, demonstrating the confidence, commitment and sense of community that we strive to nurture throughout their educational journey. From first-time performers to more experienced musicians and actors, every student played their part in making the evening a success.
The atmosphere throughout the evening was warm and supportive, with every performance receiving enthusiastic applause from the packed audience. Events such as the Summer Showcase provide students with invaluable opportunities to develop their performance skills, express their creativity and celebrate the results of their hard work with the wider school community.
Reflecting on the evening, Performing Arts staff praised the commitment shown by all those involved and the support received from families throughout the year.
We are incredibly proud of every student who took to the stage and helped make the Summer Showcase such a memorable event. Thank you to all the families, friends and staff who joined us to support our performers and celebrate the very best of Performing Arts at De La Salle College.
