All members of the school community participate in our Primary House System in Key Stage 2. The three Houses are named after the Saints, Campion (Blue), Fisher (Red) and More (Green).
Houses are allocated to students at the end of Year 2, taking account of any affiliation to a House by a current or past family member and ensuring a balance of numbers as far as possible.
Various House competitions are undertaken during the school year including football, athletics and a general knowledge quiz, held each term. The termly House point trophy is also awarded to the House with the most points.
At the end of each school year, the House which wins the most competitions is awarded ‘Champion House’, a title which is keenly contested by the pupils and the staff!
All boys joining the Secondary school are placed in a House, often the same one as their Father, Uncle, Grandfather or Brother. These House groups form the basis of our Pastoral Care system under the guidance of a Tutor and Head of House.
Each House group has a designated assembly day, and forms 7 to 11 are involved in delivering assemblies on a variety of topics and causes. Within every Form group individuals are elected as Form Captain and Vice-Captain, Charity Representative, and Sports Captain, providing opportunities throughout their time at the College for the boys to develop their leadership and organisational skills.
The boys are in the driving seat for the management of our House competitions, the choice of charities that the House will support in each academic year, the fundraising activities in each of our House Charity weeks, and the support and camaraderie between the members of all ages within each House community.
Competitions towards the House cup involve a huge range of academic, sporting, cultural and social activities so that every student can take an active role, using his unique talents to support the House and to compete. Inter-House competitions include House sports events, The Wow Factor, Murder in the Library,
science, art, to mention but a few.
The four Houses at Secondary are named after the explorers, Peary, Stanley, Scott and Rhodes. While competition is highly valued by the boys in our care, inclusion, participation and a sense of community are central to everything our House groups embody.
