Student Voice

Student Voice

Our students are valued as excellent ambassadors for our younger generations on the Island. They remain at the heart of every decision that is made, and the very reason why we strive to ensure De La Salle provides the best possible care and teaching and learning opportunities.

Student voice remains an important driving force in the steering of the school. We assure a rolling program of
leadership within each Form and House group, electing representatives as Captain and Vice-Captain, as Sports Leaders and as Charity representatives. Throughout our Primary School, boys are celebrated as ‘Leading Lasallians’ in assembly and through our weekly newsletter.

The boys can volunteer for a number of steering groups whose role is to act as ambassadors to their peers, identify where issues may arise, discuss suggestions to improve current policies, and liaise with staff and the Senior Management Team to help drive forward future initiatives and development.

Students throughout the College are actively involved in a number of working groups including; the Counter-Bullying Student Group, the Student Charities Committee, and the Rights-Respecting Steering Group.

All of our prospective Year 7 starters receive welcome letters from their Key Stage 3 mentors while in Year 6 as part of the transition process. Our sixth formers are present as role models and learning mentors as subject specialists in some lessons, as additional support during tutor periods, and as reading mentors supporting those who would benefit from additional reading support and within our Primary classes. We actively encourage students to engage positively as part of the student body with one another.
