Student Leadership

Student Leadership

We are proud of our reputation of producing well-rounded, articulate and caring young men. Our Form and House groups, sporting opportunities, and creative arts pursuits all involve opportunities for the boys to work together and to assume leadership responsibilities.

Teaching & Learning Support

Our older students within the school are involved in reading schemes to support younger students, both in Year 7 and in our Primary school. We provide opportunities for students with specific subject specialisms in the sixth form to support teaching and learning in their free periods. Every student in Year 7 is teamed up with a Year 8 mentor as part of our transition support, and letters are addressed to our new starters before they join Year 7 to ensure students feel welcomed and understand that they have people to turn to for support and advice.

Student Leadership Team

Our Head and Deputy Head boys lead the Student Leadership Team of Prefects who support the staff and Senior Management Team of the College with managing key events, speaking as role models of the College at Open Day or during our Prize Giving ceremonies, meeting and greeting both current and prospective parents, and remaining omnipresent within the College grounds for their younger peers to approach.

Testimonial

“It is very hard to explain what it truly is to be a Lasallian, unless you have shared in the journey and unless you have been part of the Community. But being a Lasallian is something I and my friends are extremely proud of, and we will continue to be Lasallian in everything that we do in the future.”

Head Boy

For sixth form, I’m taking Maths, Physics and Biology with aims to join the navy as an Engineering Officer after university. In my spare time, I’m a sailor who’s represented GB at the Hobie 16 Youth World Championships and national events in the ILCA class. I am currently taking part with the British sailing Crew4Gold program with the aim of competing at the 2032 Olympics, even if it is a long shot!

James Thornton

Head Boy

For Sixth Form, I am focusing on A-level English and Psychology and BTEC Sport. During my years at De La Salle, I have been given many sporting opportunities, including frequent Guernsey football trips. However, my favourite school memory was going on the Silver Duke Of Edinburgh trip to Scotland, where we endured on a 7-day trip to fully experience the Scottish wildlife.

I am currently in year 12 studying English Literature and Physics here, whilst doing Drama and Media studies at Beaulieu. Since joining this school in reception, I have had the pleasure of representing it in many capacities, whether it be through Eisteddfod’s or as a referee for the JFA.

Adam Klein

Deputy Head Boy

I am studying Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics at A Level. I joined De La Salle in Year 7 and found the school really welcoming. I’ve had lots of opportunities to get involved in the college through house and inter-school competitions, the student council and working with charities to help the local community.
