De La Salle College is thrilled to announce an ambitious four-year renovation project set to transform their historic campus, providing state-of-the-art facilities and providing an enhanced learning environment for its students.
The Beeches building has been at the heart of the school grounds since 1918, and while numerous updates and expansions have taken place over the last century, the College recognises the need for a comprehensive modernisation of the whole campus to meet the evolving needs of their students and community.
Highlights of the Plan
The renovation plan encompasses several key areas:
- Junior School
The Junior School will be relocated to the heart of the College, establishing a dedicated facility that includes modern classrooms and an advanced ICT centre. This move aims to integrate the youngest students more fully into the College community, promoting a seamless educational journey from Pre-Reception right through to Sixth Form. - Sixth Form Centre
The Sixth Form will benefit from a purpose-built centre, featuring new common rooms, a kitchen/dining area, an ICT centre, a work room, and a specialist A Level art studio. These enhancements are designed to support Sixth Form students as they prepare for university and beyond, providing them with the resources and environment to excel academically and socially. - New Theatre
A new lecture and performance theatre will be created, equipped with modern lighting and tiered foldaway seating. This multifunctional space will serve as a hub for both academic lectures and artistic performances. - Learning Resource Area
The current library will be developed out into a comprehensive Learning Resource Area and wellbeing space, including a quiet prayer space in the new chapel, a “Good Companions” conversation space in the library, and a Lasallian club room equipped for video games, table tennis, and social interaction. Additionally, facilities for the school counsellor are to be enhanced, ensuring robust support for students’ wellbeing. - Welcome Area
A new visitor welcome area will be established with a main reception for the whole College, featuring a welcoming waiting area and modern meeting and conference rooms. Furthermore, pedestrian areas around the College will be expanded, enhancing accessibility and safety for all.
Commitment to Excellence
Jason Turner, Head of College, stated: “This comprehensive renovation plan represents our dedication to providing the highest standards of education and support for our students. By investing in these new facilities, we are ensuring that De La Salle College continues to be a leading institution for academic and personal development. We look forward to celebrating the opening of these new facilities with our students, parents, and the wider community.”
The renovations have already begun, with a phased approach over four years devised to minimise disruptions to the school calendar, ensuring continuity in students’ education.
